UNESCO Director Sheldon Shaeffer said that the competition was a success with various high quality entries. “This made judging a challenge as we felt many of the entries commendably illustrated sustainable development issues and promoted Education for Sustainable Development,” he declared. He noted that the Board of Judges had a difficult time reaching a unanimous decision. He also hopes that UNESCO would use ”selected submissions in a variety of UNESCO publications in the future.”

The Ateneo Environmental Science Society’s prize is a Canon HV30 Mini DV/HDV Camcorder. Their entry  successfully combined artistic merit with a quality description of the chosen theme  Action for Climate Change.
