UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines Secretary General Preciosa S. Soliven joined 600 delegates from UNESCO member states to assess the first half of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-2014 in Bonn, Germany.
According to Ambassador Soliven, the review came up with 10 key findings on ESD research, networking, budgeting, and redeveloping school curriculum for ESD, among others.
For the second half of the DESD, the identified major action areas will serve as input to succeeding efforts. It includes, among others, intensive awareness and understanding of ESD with appropriate government support, a strengthened involvement of media in communicating ESD to encourage dialogues among different audiences especially the youth, and reorienting curriculum towards tripartite theme of society, environment, and economy. >>>more |
