UNESCO extended emergency assistance to Estanza Elementary in Lingayen, Pangasinan after the school was heavily damaged by Typhoons Cosme and Frank.
Due to classroom shortage, children’s learning process suffered as Grades 2 to 4 held classes in the morning while Grades 1 and 6 took over the classrooms in the afternoon.
With a total of 560 pupils, the school had to accommodate everyone in the 15 remaining classrooms from the original 23.
Also, the school had to prepare for an annual increase of enrollment. Thus, the major repair of five classrooms was proposed.
UNESCO extended a $50,000 emergency assistance to the school for the repair of five classrooms.
“The major repair of five classrooms will benefit the present clientele of the school...and the next generation of teachers and enrollees and other stakeholders of the school will likewise be benefited,” Schools Division Superintendent Alma Ruby Torio declared. |
