International Year of Planet Earth Exhibit

The UNESCO National Commission led the celebration of the International Year of Planet Earth with an exhibit dubbed International Year of the Planet Earth – Earth Sciences for the Society at the Department of Foreign Affairs Lobby with 100 guests from the diplomatic corps, government agencies, NGOs, teachers, and students.

International Coastal Clean Up in Puerto Galera, Mindoro Oriental

2008’s  annual International Coastal Cleanup was transformed into another exciting and fun activity as the University of the Philippines Marine Biological Society (UP MBS) partnered with UNESCO to clean up Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro.

Outreach Marine Programme: Zamboanga

This is an annual activity of the National Committee on Marine Sciences that aims to popularize marine sciences throughout the Philippines, and consequently generate interest in the conservation and preservation of marine resources in the country especially among local stakeholders.

Outreach Marine Programme: A Synthesis

This is a documentation of all outreach activities conducted by the NCMS since 1994-2008. It contains major issues, problems, solutions and outcomes in 15 outreach marine sites which were carefully analyzed. It yields valuable information for students and practitioners of marine science.
