The 5TH Asia-Pacific Information Network (APIN) Meeting will be held by UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (NatCom) with UNESCO IFAP Committee (Philippines) and co-hosted by AIJC on November 23-26 in Manila.
With the theme, “Information Policy: Accessibility and Media and Information Literacy,”the international meeting will focus on information policy and content and process and will provide a platform for follow-up discussion of the Training Workshop on Information Policy and Statistics held last September in Bangkok under the auspices of APIN and UNESCO Bangkok.
It will also enable the Network to revisit its objectives vis-à-vis the new Information for All Programme (IFAP) Strategy launched in 2008. APIN is a mechanism to pursue the goals and objectives of IFAP in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Also included in the agenda is Media and Information Literacy (MIL). A two-day ICT Competencies session is scheduled on November 25-26.
AIJC is also organizing the Roundtable Discussion on Communication for Development (C4D) in January 2011 for the UNESCO NatCom Committee on Communication.
The C4D forum aims to provide a platform for experience exchange on the state of C4D practice in the Philippines, present results of the initial assessment of the Philippine communication media ecology, discuss current policies and practices, and recommend actions for mainstreaming C4D for the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2012-2016, among others.
Participants will include representatives of the UN Country Office, UN Communications Group, UN Information Center, communication officers of UN agencies, various sectors of the Philippine Government, the academe, professional and industry associations, multilateral and bilateral agencies, civil society organizations and NGOs.
