Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the website of the UNESCO National Commission (NatCom) of the Philippines!

Since its inception in 1951, the NatCom has taken on the role of facilitating UNESCO’s outreach to government agencies, civil society, non-government organizations, parliamentarians, academicians, the private sector and other important social actors in the Philippines.

We are entrusted with the tasks of consultation, programme formulation, implementation, evaluation, liaison and information dissemination on UNESCO’s fields of competence.

We aim to remain at the forefront of UNESCO’s programmes on education, science and technology, social and human sciences, culture and communication.

In the fulfillment of our mandate, we:

  • Work for a sustainable nation achieved by providing quality Education for All (EFA);
  • Promote science and technology policies and capacity building in the sciences, engineering and renewable energy in the face of climate change;
  • Facilitate social transformation conducive to the universal values of justice, freedom and human dignity;
  • Protect, enhance and promote cultural heritage in a sustainable manner; and
  • Build inclusive knowledge societies through information and communication.

On our website, you will find information on our policies, programs, projects and other undertakings.

With this website, we hope to provide you with a glimpse into the organization so that you may better understand and appreciate the work of the UNESCO NatCom.

We hope that, through our website, you will be encouraged to collaborate with us in pursuing a sustainable Philippines with just societies that value knowledge, promote a culture of peace and celebrate diversity.

Mabuhay!
