Philippine Public Service Broadcasting (2005)
   
 
The Philippines is one of the few countries in the Asia Pacific region without a public service broadcasting system. The Philippine broadcast media landscape therefore remains susceptible to market demands, to the detriment of developmental programming which promotes educational and sociocultural thrusts. In 2005, UNESCO through the participation program (PP) provided a grant to the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) to support initiatives to set up the Philippine PBS. The UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (NatCom) provided counterpart fund. >>>more
   
 

Philippine National Observatory on the Information Society (PNOIS) (2000-2002)

   
 
From 2000-2002, the AIJC implemented the Philippine National Observatory on the Information Society (PNOIS), the Philippine leg of the UNESCO Information Society Observatory. The PNOIS is a public service portal that provides information on ICT policies, programs and development that can be shared and utilized to help meet the challenges of the Information Society. >>>more
